Dirty dozen foods that you should buy organic

Every year the Environmental Working Group releases its annual dirty dozen list a list of foods that you should always buy organic. The group analyzes the data of the Department of Agriculture about the pesticide residue and ranks foods based on how much or little pesticide residue they contain. The group also said that we can reduce our exposure by 80% if they switch to organic when buying those 12 foods.

So if you would like to know what foods are on this list this year and some that were on the list in the past but also some other interesting facts, make sure you carefully read this article.

Dirty dozen list

1. Apples: each and every year, apples rank almost at the top of the list and believe it or not, more than 45 different pesticides have been detected on the apples we eat. This is the result of the constant threat of the fungus and the insects that make the farmers spray many chemicals on their orchards. So every time you can, you should buy organic apples or replace them with bananas or watermelon. Also make sure you buy organic grapes since the other ones have made it on the list this year.
